Nothing good ever happens inside a magical salt circle.

Talk to Me directors Danny and Michael Philippou have another A24 horror film coming out this spring. That film is called Bring Her Back, and based on the trailer released today, this one looks more disturbing (confirming the vibes from a previously released teaser) and makes me, at least, definitely not want to bring anyone back from the dead.

The logline for the feature—“A brother and sister uncover a terrifying ritual at the secluded home of their new foster mother”—doesn’t get into the meat (the bloody, bloody meat) of the story, which we get a better glimpse of here.

In today’s trailer, we see Sally Hawkins (Paddington, The Shape of Water) as that foster mother, who is apparently performing a series of rituals on a young boy already in her home to bring another girl back from the dead (a girl, who as we see in disturbing images in today’s trailer, has clearly been deceased for weeks, if not months).

The trailer also includes several factors that make for a compellingly creepy, dare I say terrifying, movie. In it, we see an isolated home surrounded by a white substance that may be chalk and/or salt to keep the “angel” mentioned in the trailer inside it, as well as bloody child hands and the sense that everyone is trapped in this literal nightmare with no escape in sight.

In addition to Hawkins, Talk to Me stars Billy Barratt, Sora Wong, and Jonah Wren Phillips. It comes from a script by Danny Philippou and Bill Hinzman and is produced by Samantha Jennings and Kristina Ceyton.

The movie premieres in theaters on May 30, 2025.
